ABC-7 Storm Track Weather: Cooler Tonight, Beautiful Weekend Ahead for the Borderland

Slightly drier air will begin filtering into the region tonight. Outside of areas farther east, skies should gradually clear to partly cloudy. With fewer clouds and decreasing winds, temperatures will drop more efficiently tonight. Overnight lows in the 50s will be common across the lowlands.

A Beautiful Saturday

Saturday is shaping up to be a much nicer day across the Borderland. Winds will remain a little breezy, and we may see some fair-weather cumulus clouds develop during the afternoon.

Moisture will be much lower compared to Friday, so rain chances will be minimal. In fact, most areas should stay completely dry, with even a sprinkle unlikely.

Temperatures will rebound from Friday but will remain a little below normal. Expect afternoon highs mainly in the mid to upper 70s across the lowlands, while mountain communities will see temperatures mostly in the 60s.

Warming Trend Begins Sunday

An upper-level ridge will become established over the Four Corners on Sunday, bringing even fewer clouds and another 3 to 5 degrees of warming.

The warming trend will continue into early next week as the upper-level high gradually shifts westward. A couple of weak systems are expected to move through Monday and Wednesday, but forecast models have trended weaker with these features, especially Monday.

For the Borderland, that means the weather should remain mostly dry. A stray mountain shower cannot be completely ruled out, but widespread rainfall is not expected.

Temperatures will climb to around 3 to 5 degrees above normal by early next week, bringing a warmer and drier pattern back to the region.
