ABC-7 StormTrack Weather: Sunday storm chances bring brief heavy rain and gusty winds

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The Borderland tracking more showers and thunderstorms Sunday afternoon as moisture moves north into New Mexico and far West Texas.

A few isolated showers may linger early Sunday, but additional showers and storms are expected to develop later in the day. Areas along and east of the Rio Grande have the best chance of seeing rain.

Some storms could bring brief heavy downpours and gusty winds. Rain coverage should remain limited, so not everyone will see rain. If you're planning to spend time outdoors, keep an eye on changing weather conditions this afternoon.

A few showers will remain possible Monday and Tuesday, although rain chances are expected to decrease. A passing shower or thunderstorm could still affect parts of Hudspeth County on Tuesday.

Temperatures looking to stay warm through Tuesday, with lowland highs in the lower to mid-80s. Drier weather is expected from Wednesday through the rest of the week.

A cold front looking to move in through the region late Thursday night into early Friday morning. Friday feeling noticeably cooler, giving the Borderland a taste of more typical fall weather.
