ABC-7 StormTrack Weather: Tracking above normal temperatures with limited storm chances

We are tracking above normal daily highs in the Borderland. Daily highs could range from 96-102 degrees for the next several days which is 5-8 degrees hotter than average. Storm chances will be minimal for El Paso and Las Cruces, but I cannot rule out a stay storm or two.

Rain chances may increase later this week...

An upper-level high is currently fixed over New Mexico which is causing a drier pattern. Likewise, this will cause Lowland highs to soar from 96 to 102. As it translates east, it will flatten and bring rain chances west of the Continental Divide (well west of El Paso and Las Cruces). At the beginning of September, an upper-level high will build over the Southeastern United States (this is what we need to get rain here). The high will usher in a weak southeasterly flow of moisture into the region. Most of the storms will be isolated.
