ABC-7 StormTrack Weather: Tracking a warmer weekend with a chance of isolated storms

Good afternoon to the Borderland, we have finally made it to Friday. Today will be nice with forecasted highs in the mid 80s. Looking nice and quiet across the Borderland. This evening will be warm with partly cloudy skies for high school football games.

The UTEP Miners are home tomorrow again Nevada, as the game kicks off at 5 PM, it will be in the mid to upper 80s with the possibility of isolated storms. Chances will persist throughout the game.

Likewise, this weekend, the Borderland will experience on and off storms caused by the tropical moisture from Rachel and Simon. These chances will increase at the beginning of next week, our highest chances will be Monday and Tuesday!

Next week a gradual cooldown is expected with highs in the low/mid 80s at first. Then, another cooling will plummet our daily highs into the 70s and lows in the 40/50s for a few days.

A high pressure system, that has kept things quiet and warm, is expected to shift to the east which may open the door for rain chances this weekend through early next week.

Now Hurricane Simon is expected to turn north and bring a little moisture to the Borderland. Some spaghetti plots were forecasting the center to pass near the Borderland Wednesday, now most of the plots are expecting the storm pass to the Big Bend Region which is well east of the area. The GFS model is hanging onto the track of the storm coming into the Borderland, I don't think that is likely... but the chance is still there!
