Sources: El Paso Locomotive will sign new outside defender, Miles Lyons
EL PASO, Texas -- Sources close to the El Paso Locomotive confirm to ABC-7 that the club will sign outside defender Miles Lyons.
Lyons trialled with the Locomotive in June of this year and he's been training with the club this week.
"We had another trialist in today, another young player from around America and he looked fantastic," Head Coach John Hutchinson told ABC-7 on Tuesday.
The outside defender comes from the U.S. Barca Academy - the same place the Locomotive picked up star Diego Luna who is now playing in the MLS with Real Salt Lake.
The signing comes at a crucial time as Lyons is set to play right back - a position the Locomotive have struggled to fill recently. This season already five different players have played at right back, due to injuries and players departing the club.
This is the second player sources have confirmed to ABC-7 this week that the Locos are in the process of signing.
The other, 18-year-old attacking midfielder Edison Azcona, who will be coming in on loan from MLS team Inter Miami.
Neither player will be available for Saturday's game against the 2nd place Colorado Springs Switchbacks.
