LOOKOUT PASS (KPAX TV) — Lookout Ski Area is finally open and with their new SkyTrac quad lift you can get to the top of the mountain quicker and so far, the newest feature has proved to be worth the wait.

“The new lift is sweet I think you’ll find some comments from people today it’s a nice comfortable ride quite we are going to go enjoy it in a little bit,” Director of Marketing and Sales Matthew Sawyer said.

People on the mountain for the third open day say conditions are good and they are excited to finally get out.

“So far we’ve gone about 10 runs and it’s good lots of powder in the trees and the groomed runs are riding nice there’s not too many small trees sticking up so it’s been good,” Jacob Haley a UM Student and snowboarder said. “We were praying for snow so it’s good to get back and to get going we are all UM students.”

Not all of Lookout is open right now, but access to the whole mountain should be here soon.

“We have a nice weather pattern coming in for the rest of this week probably on Wednesday evening,” Sawyer added. “We are going to be opening chair two on Wednesday and then looking to open Chair 3 if we can based on the weather over the weekend. Then we are at 100 percent operation.”

Full operation means enjoying Lookout Passes amazing snowfall.

“It seems like they just get dumped on every year so I mean there is always an endless supply of fresh powder in the trees and the groomed runs are always well maintained so it’s a good hill we like coming here,” Haley said.

Lookout also has some holiday events planned at the mountain including their annual skiing Santa event which will take place Dec. 22.
