City of El Paso invites community to discuss proposed amendments

EL PASO, Texas -- The city of El Paso is inviting the community to take part in meetings about proposed charter amendments and a citizen-led petition.

City council approved placing 10 proposed amendments to the city charter and an eleventh amendment (Proposition K) that was added to the ballot as a part of a citizen-led petition to add climate policy to the city charter.

The meetings are for residents wishing to learn more about the propositions and the financial impacts.

A meeting will be held today at the Northeast Regional Command Center at 9600 Dyer at 6 p.m.

Two other meetings will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2023.

One will be held at the Greater El Paso Association of Realtors Office located at 6400 Gateway Boulevard East at 11 a.m.

The other will be held at El Paso Chamber of Commerce Offices located at 303 Oregon Street; Suite 610 at 5 p.m.

Early voting begins Monday, April 24th to Tuesday, May 2, 2023 and Election day is Saturday, May 6, 2023.

All meetings will also be held virtually for the public.
