Tarleton sweep the Aggies as NM State fall in both games of the doubleheader Saturday

STEPHENVILLE, Texas (KVIA) -- The Aggies dropped both games in the doubleheader with Tarleton on Saturday which saw the Texans get the sweep.

After outslugging the Aggies in the opening game, the Texans found a way to win a pitchers duel in the night cap.

In game one there was no score until the fourth, with the Aggies putting up four runs. Christian Perez opened the scoring with an RBI single. Logan Gallina then launched a home run to grab another two runs and then two batters later, Damone Hale ripped a triple down right field which allowed Mitch Namie to score.

Tarleton quickly answered back, scoring four of their own in the bottom of the fourth to tie it up. Then in the fifth they'd score another four. The Aggies found another three runs over the course of the game but fell 9-7.

After a 46-minute rain delay in the first innings of the second game, the Aggies had just the two hits in their 3-2 loss to TSU.

The two runs came from Kevin Jimenez and Nolan Funke. After drawing a walk in the fourth Jimenez scored from first base on a throwing error. Meanwhile Funke had a double in the 6th to bring Keith Jones II home.

The Aggies will be back in Las Cruces to play OUAZ on Tuesday morning with first pitch scheduled for 11 a.m. MT.
