Police identify man found with gunshot wounds

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- El Paso Police are identifying the man found with gunshot wounds in the northeast Saturday morning. His death is now being investigated as a murder.

Investigators say 27-year-old Daniel Mergil was found with gunshot wounds inside a Chevrolet Malibu that had become stuck in a tree. The car was found on the 5900 block of Ameen Drive right after 3 a.m.

Police say Mergil was rushed to the hospital where he died. Crimes Against Persons investigators are still looking for information on his death.
