El Pasoan Carlos Contreras goes yard at Regionals

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (KVIA) -- El Pasoan Carlos Contreras is playing in the NCAA Regionals in Baton Rouge with the Sam Houston Bearkats.

On Friday they played Oregon State and fell 18-2. Conteras has two at-bats on Friday and earned one walk, with 0 runs and 0 strikeouts.

The loss to the Beavers saw the Bearkats move into the elimination bracket and play Tulane on Saturday.

The Bearkats had a nifty 6-1 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth and El Pasoan Carlos Contreras made sure to give the Bearkats even more wriggle room.

Contreras homered to right field up and well into the bleachers to extend the Bearkats lead to 7-1 and help keep their season alive.

Tulane immediately hit back in the top of the 7th and found themselves trailing 7-2 with bases loaded and 2 outs as the game went into a several hour rain delay. The game ended up being postponed to 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.
