Two shootings in El Paso within 24 hours
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- In less than 24 hours, two separate shootings have taken place in El Paso.
The first shooting took place around 1:32 a.m. Sunday after the El Paso Police Department responded to a shooting at a house party at the 10900 block of Gary Player Dr.
Two people were listed in critical condition including a 20-year-old man a 17-year-old boy.
The second shooting took place Monday morning after 12:30 a.m. after officers were called out to the 200 block of McClintock Dr. in reference to a family violence call.
This shooting left a 22-year-old man dead.
Police said a 27-year-old man who killed one person was trying to deescalate the situation between a couple. Authorities said he is cooperating with the investigation.
David Dominguez, a resident in the area where one man was shot and killed, attributes the incidents to a lack of responsibility during holiday weekends.
"I think there's just going to be more incidents like that because people just don't know how to act no more. You know what I mean? People are not responsible when it comes down to drinking or partying or get together or, you know, some people just let their emotions get the best of them," he said.
EPPD haven't announced an arrest in connection to the Sunday's shooting.
