Driver Killed In Crash On Patriot Freeway

EL PASO, TX — Special traffic investigators with the El Paso Police Department are looking into a traffic crash that killed a 24-year-old local man.

Ernest Munoz died early Saturday after the car he was driving slammed into a cement barrier on the Patriot Freeway, near Pershing Drive.

Police are searching for a dark green Honda Civic that was seen at the scene of the crash. They believe that car was somehow connected to the fatal accident. Officers tell ABC 7 theHonda had a loud muffler and tinted windows.

“We are asking if anybody did see the collision to please contact us and help us out with this investigation,” said Det. Carlos Carrillo, a spokesman of the El Paso Police Department.

A toxicology test is being done to determine whether alcohol was involved, but police have already ruled speed was a factor in the crash. Persons with information are asked to call 832-4400.
