Long-time El Paso dairy closing down amid milk industry struggles
Update: Farmers Select Dairy provided additional information about the closure in a statement Wednesday.
"Over a month ago, Farmer’s Select Dairy announced it was going to close and cease operations. Closing the plant has been extremely difficult, as we have been blessed to serve this area for over 100 years. But like many dairy bottling plants, we have continued to struggle in the face of declining milk prices, an aging facility, and a significantly diminished supply of local milk.Â
Approximately 50 employees were impacted, but all were eligible to transfer to another dairy location or receive severance benefits."
