El Paso man accused of murder to go on trial this December

Update (August 7, 2024): Mijares remains in jail on a $250,000 bond, according to jail records. Court records show that Mijares has until December 5, 2024 to enter a plea. His jury trial is currently scheduled to start December 13, 2024 at 8:00 AM.


Update (September 26, 2023): Officers have arrested 43-year-old David Luna Mijares on a murder charge. They also identified the stabbing victim as 46-year-old Juan Garcia. Officers found him unresponsive and he died at the hospital.

Investigators learned that Garcia and Mijares had gotten into a fight. They arrested Mijares on Sunday in the parking lot of the Walmart on the 1800 block of North Zaragoza. He was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on a $250,000 bond.


EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- El Paso Police have confirmed that a man has died after being stabbed in northeast El Paso.

It happened at the 4100 block of Kasper Way.

One man was taken to the hospital where he later died.

Crimes Against Persons is currently investigating.
