Big Rig Rolls Over On Interstate

EL PASO, TX. — El Paso police were called out early Thursday morning to investigate a rollover crash thattied up themorning commute for several hours.

It happened around 2:15a.m., a semi-truck rolled over onto its side near the Sunland Park exit on the westbound lanes of I-10.

Officials with the Texas Department of Public Safety said the truck also may have caused a chemical spill.

What ABC-7 was able to confirm is much of the vehicle’s regular cargo spilled out in all directions over several hundred feet.

Only one lanewas open around the crash site for the better part of the morning, and that restricted the flow of traffic. Vehicles were circulating freely again around 8:15 a.m. after road crews pushed the big rig to the side of the road, in preparation it being towed away.

Investigators will now work to determine what caused the accident. As of 4:50 a.m., no word was released concerning injuries.
