Crews Continue To Drain Sun City
EL PASO, TX. – City Crews are still pumping out water from flooded areas around the city, nearlytwo weeks after the historic storms hit the Borderland.
At an Upper Valley strip mall, which was under four feet of water, crews made quick work of the water anddrained it to a nearby drainage ditch.
While the sun has evaporated some of the water, different crews from the city, and even private companies, are still spread throughout the town pumping water out.
The city’s street department says the water is usually dumped in drainage ditches which eventually will carry the water into the Rio Grande.
Pump crew member Manuel Flores tells ABC-7 many trucks are working the streets,”15 trucks, about 30 to 40 trips each…trucks never stop…even at lunch time we’re still rotating.”
Business owner Annie Leutzeis very thankful for the crew’s work.Ms.Leutze tells ABC-7″They have been wonderful and they’re being so kind and without them we would be under three feet of water. Our only solution was to have it pumped out.”
City crews are only responsible for pumping water from public places. Private companies can pump water out of businesses and homes with the owner’s permission.
