Alamogordo Students Protest To Keep Block Scheduling

ALAMOGORDO, N.M. (AP) – Alamogordo High School students walked out of class this morning. They were protesting an expected school board decision next week to end block scheduling next year.

Junior Dustin Wood says students have petitioned to keep block scheduling, but the school board doesn’t care what they think.

School administrators had no comment on the protest.

Under block scheduling, students take four 90-minute classes a day, and take a different set of classes each semester.

The concept lets students take more classes and earn more credits.

Students say block scheduling has helped them.

They say they’re able to get their work done in class, with teachers available to answer questions.
