Police Look For Suspect In Attempted Armed Robbery

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Las Cruces Police are looking for a suspect who displayed a handgun and demanded cash from an employee of the Premier Care Methadone Clinic at 2465 South Telshor Blvd. on Monday, August 27.

According to investigators, a Hispanic man walked into the clinic’s lobby at around 10:20 a.m. and demanded cash from an employee. The employee told police the man was armed with a silver revolver or derringer-type pistol. The suspect quickly exited the building when another employee entered the lobby. The man was last seen running toward Memorial Medical Center.

Witnesses describe the man as 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-8-inches tall and weighing about 180 to 185 pounds. He was wearing a black sweatshirt, black baggy pants and a black bandana covering his head and face.

This case has some similar to theSaturday, Aug. 25, armed robbery of a Pizza Hut restaurant at 1492 North Main St. In that case, a Hispanic man entered the store, brandished a small handgun and demanded money from store employees.

The man who robbed the Pizza Hut was described by witnesses as Hispanic, about 5-foot-5-inches tall and weighing 130 to 140 pounds. He also was wearing all dark clothing and had a bandana covering his face.
