Man Hit & Killed By Traffic Crossing Border Highway
EL PASO – A man died on Tuesday after he was struck by a car whilehe walked acrossthe Border Highway.
Investigators have not yet released the name of the 51-year oldvictim, whom they believe had just entered the United States illegally. The man attempted to run across the highway,authorities said.
Investigators said Rosa Fraire, 46,was driving a 2006 Ford Explorer on the right lane of traffic heading eastbound when she struck the man.
Fraire saidtold police sheswerved in an attempt to avoid the collision, but she struck the man with the right side ofher vehicle. Fraire did stop to call police investigators immediately, authorities said.
Medical crews took the man to Thomason Hospital, where he died a short time later.
No charges are pending against Fraire, police said.
