Two Las Cruces Women Arrested For Allegedly Harboring Felon

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Two Las Cruces women are facing a serious charge, this after authorities say both of them helped a wanted man escape.

20-year-old Corina Ramirez and 21-year-old Michelle Smith were each charged with a count of Harboring a Felon. This is considered a felony charge.

The man they allegedly helped, 21-year-old Trevor Filipowski, was arrested just outside Dallas this past weekend. He’ll face charges for a Sexual Assault and a Stabbing which happened in Las Cruces last month.

It was just last week when officers and aS.W.A.T. Team surrounded a Las Cruces apartment complex. Investigators got a tip Filipowski was in one of the apartments, but the search came up empty.

Officers say Corina Ramirez drove him out of the apartments before they were sealed off. The two then allegedly met up with Michelle Smith and drove to El Paso where Filipowski got a haircut, and was taken to a Greyhound bus terminal.

Officers say the two women knew police were after Filipowski when they helped him.
