Sex Offender Referees Youth Football Game, Parents Upset

EL PASO, TX. – According to the Parks and Recreation Department, a registered sex offender refereed a youth football game last weekend at an East El Paso park.

55-year old Anthony Perales was convicted in 1992 of two counts of Indecency with an8-year old girl, involving sexual contact. Perales has since paid his debt to society and is no longer on parole or probation.

But that doesn’t mean, according to Parks and Recreation officials, he should be allowed to referee youth sporting events. Perales received a call last week to officiate a football game involvingeight and nine year-olds on Saturday morning at Blackie Chesher park.

According to Parks officials, someone recognized Perales and called police about the matter. The department said it is now taking steps to make sure this does not happen again.
