West El Paso House Fire
EL PASO — A fire broke outon El Paso’s West Side along the 900 block of Totonaca near Medano.
Fire crews arrived at the scene around 4 p.m. Fire crews said children in the neighborhood who were walking home from school noticed the flames first and then notified their parents. The adults in turn called emergency dispatchers.
The fire gutted the first floor of the home, but no human injuries were reported. However, the family dog died from the smoke in the home.
Crews said the house caught fire in the kitchen area, but the exact cause has not yet been determined.
