Some LCPS Report Cards Delayed

Las Cruces – Middle and high school students in Las Cruces awaiting their final grades from the end of last semester will have to wait a few more days. LCPS report cards will be mailed to secondary students on Tuesday, Jan 22, which is about one week later than the school district anticipated.

Jo Galvn, LCPS communications director, said the district’s conversion to a new student information computer system created some errors in the report card data. Specifically, students’ grade point averages and the number of days they were absent last semester are affected. The students’ final grades are correct. The district will mail the report cards next week with an explanation that additional corrected data will be sent later.

“The most important information for students are their class grades which are accurate on the report cards going out next week,” Galvn said. “But parents and students need to know that the GPA numbers and the number of absences on the printed cards are not correct. That corrected data will be sent to them before long.”

The district has been converting more than 1.5 million student grade records from the district’s 20-year-old computer system to the new electronic student information system, known as eSIS.

“We knew that there would be glitches and we appreciate everyone’s patience while we make sure that all the data is 100 percent accurate,” Galvn added.
