Biden chooses longtime aide who runs his Oval Office to be a deputy White House chief of staff

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden has chosen a longtime aide and close adviser to be a White House deputy chief of staff. Boston native Annie Tomasini has spent the past three years as director of Oval Office Operations. Tomasini is a close adviser who travels regularly with the president, advises him and helps manage his time. In her new role, Tomasini will add a new roster of responsibilities, including overseeing Biden’s schedule as well as personnel and operations on the 18-acre campus. Tomasini will succeed Jen O’Malley Dillon when she leaves the White House to join Biden’s reelection campaign.
