ABC-7 StormTrack Weather: Tracking a nice and warm week in the Borderland, chance of isolated showers and t-storms

It is Hump Day in the Borderland! This afternoon, I am forecasting a high of 86 degrees with a nighttime low around 65. Tomorrow and the next several days will be similar with daily chances of isolated showers and thunderstorms, most of the activity will be kept in the mountains.

This weekend, the pattern will remain fairly similar... warm with isolated showers and thunderstorms!

A high pressure system is locked in place over the Four Corners of America which is keeping it warm and all moisture away from the Borderland. It is expected to shift to the east which may open the door for rain chances next week!

Which now brings us to the tropics, we are watching an array of storms popping up in the Pacific and Gulf. First let's talk about Tropical Storm Isaias... it is expected to rapidly increase to a Category 3 Hurricane before making landfall Friday night near the Florida Gulf Coast which will miss the Borderland!

Then, Hurricane Rachel is expected to weaken to a Tropical Storm and make landfall near northern portions of Baja California and dump rain over Las Vegas, Nevada and parts of Central/West Arizona. Some moisture may trickle into Western New Mexico.

Finally, we get to newly formed Tropical Storm Simon which is expected to rapidly increase to a Category 3 Hurricane in the Pacific before it makes landfall and run parallel along the Western Mexican Coast. Some spaghetti plots are forecasting moisture from Simon to move into the Borderland by Monday or Tuesday. It will be significantly weaker due to it being ripped up over the Mexican interior.

We will to continue to keep an eye on all of the action in the tropics. It is still a little ways out.
