EPISD To Choose New Name For Middle School

EL PASO — The Board of Trustees for the El Paso Independent School Districtmet on Tuesday for a regular monthly meeting. On the agenda was deciding ona new name for what was once Carlos Cordova Middle School.

The board unanimously approved naming the school afterJudge Albert Armendariz.

The Business Services Committee met at 4:45p.m.to make their recommendation to the board. Nominations were accepted through January 31, 2008 and include many local people, national figuresand geographical refences.

Cordova, who recently resigned from the board, pleaded guilty in the local public corruption scandal, and asked that his name be removed from the school.
