Albuquerque Public School District: ‘More Beef Is Being Recalled’

ALBUQUERQUE (AP) – Officials with the Albuquerque public school district say they have learned from the U.S. Department of Agriculture that more beef is being recalled.

They say it’s phase two of the recall involving the Westland/Hallmark Meat Company.

Earlier this month, the USDA recalled 143 million pounds of beef after the Humane Society of the United States released undercover video showing plant workers trying to get sick or crippled animals to stand by using forklifts, zapping them with electric prods and aiming water hoses at their faces.

The school district says it may have received some of the newly recalled beef in shipments that arrived last week.

The district says all food service managers have been alerted and will not serve any of the newly recalled products.
