Texas Gas Prices Continue To Rise

HOUSTON (AP) – It was another week, another record-high for Texas gasoline prices.

Prices at gas pumps reached new record highs in all 11 regions in the weekly AAA Texas gasoline price survey released Friday.

There may be hopeful news on the horizon, said auto club spokeswoman Rose Rougeau.

“A recent government report showed that demand for gasoline fell slightly more than six percent in February from January,” she said. “The drop could be attributed to February being a shorter month and a time of slow demand, but it may also suggest high gas prices are cutting consumers appetite for fuel.”

The survey showed regular self-serve averaged $3.53 per gallon in Texas this week, 6 cents higher than last week. Nationally, the average price rose 7 cents to $3.62 per gallon.

The most expensive gas in Texas was in Texarkana, where it rose 4 cents to $3.53 per gallon. The cheapest gas was in San Antonio, where the average price climbed 8 cents to $3.49 per gallon.

Amarillo – $3.525, up 4.9 cents

Austin-San Marcos – $3.516, up 7.8 cents

Beaumont – $3.531, up 5.5 cents

Corpus Christi – $3.485, up 3.9 cents

Dallas – $3.528, up 4.7 cents

Fort Worth – $3.528, up 3.9 cents

Galveston-Texas City – $3.521, up 6.0 cents

Houston – $3.507, up 4.9 cents

San Antonio – $3.490, up 7.9 cents

Texarkana (Texas only) – $3.530, up 4.4 cents

State – $3.525, up 5.9 cents

Nationally – $3.623, up 6.7 cents
