Man Charged In Theft Of 71 Propane Tanks

EL PASO — It’s no secret rising energy prices have contributed to gas thefts all across the city. Now, police say thieves are targeting propane tanks!

Officials say policeofficers arrested a man in connection with the theft of71 propane tanks from stores throughout the city. Many convenience and department stores usually store the tanks inside steel cages outside their locations.

Rogelio Rodriguez, 41, of the 63-hundred block of Vaughn, was arrested Thursday night and charged with burglary.

Officials say officers were investigating the theft of a propane tank near the 6600 block of Alameda when they spotted Rodriguez.

An investigation revealed Rodriguez was responsible for the theft dozens of propane tanks, officials said.
