Man Arrested After Allegedly Firing Weapon At Sheriff Unit
EL PASO — Sheriff’s deputies arrested a suspect who allegedly fired several shots in the direction of a marked unit.
Antonio Rodriguez, 19, was arrested late Saturday night and charged with Deadly Conduct. He has since been booked into the El Paso County Jail in lieu of a $750 bond.
Officials say deputies were called out the the area near Hueco Tanks and Telles roads in far east El Paso County after a call was made about a man seen shooting a weapon out of his car.
Deputies observed a vehicle making a sharp turn to enter the residence located at 5029 Hueco Tanks road. When they arrived at the scene, a shot was fired in their direction, officials said.
Investigators at the scene said deputies saw a clear muzzle flash headed in the direction of their units. They observed a man inside the property and summoned several units to the scene.
A perimeter was set up around the house and deputies were able to make contact with a 17-year-old girl who lived at the residence. She told deputies she was inside her home with her 19-year-old brother and his 18-year-old friend.
Officials say Deputies instructed them to exit the residence and the occupants surrendered without incident. After a sweep of the residence, deputies located several spent high caliber casings located by the porch of the residence and an assault rifle which uses the same high caliber casings.
After a brief investigation, it was revealed Rodriguez fired the rounds as he saw deputies approaching his home.
The other two occupants were released and no charges were filed against them.
