Man In Critical Condition After Sunday Motorcycle Wreck
EL PASO, Texas — One man is in critical condition and two others are in stable condition at Thomason Hospital after a motorcycle wreck Sunday afternoon, El Paso police said. Speed is suspected as a factor in the collision.
Police said a group of eight motorcyclists were traveling on I-10 West near the Downtown exit. A 2002 Yamaha motorcycle driven by 32-year-old Roberto Ponceand a 2007 Kawasaki motorcycle driven by 20-year-old Cesar Alberto Martinez collided with a 2008 Toyota Camry.
The motorcyclists lost control and collided with each other, which caused Ponce to strike a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Martinez struck the concrete barrier on the far right of I-10 West. Ponce, Martinez and 20-year-old Victoria Falcon, Martinez’s passenger, received serious injuries and were taken to Thomason Hospital.
Martinez is in critical condition and Ponce and Falcon are considered stable, police said.
The six other motorcyclists were detained for questioning and released. No charges have been filed and no one else was injured, police said.
Traffic on I-10 was backed up for hours after the crash, which occurred about 3 p.m.
The crash is still under investigation.
