2 People Shot Friday Morning In Lower Valley

A shooting outside a Lower Valley sports bar sent two people to a local hospital and left family member with questions.

It happened just after 2 a.m. Friday on the 7000 block of Alameda outside the X-O Sports Bar located in the Lakeside Shopping Center.

The victims’ relatives told ABC-7 the men are step brothers.

El Paso police identified them as 26 and 31 year old men.

They say there was an argument inside the bar, which involved someone who was with the victims.

According to authorities, the argument turned physical outside as the victims were leaving.

The women said the 31 year old told them a man with a gun left the bar after them, then shot them.

“How was he carrying a gun inside the bar? They’re not supposed to be doing that, you know? I just don’t understand how he had a gun when he was here,” said the 26 year old’s sister.

Neither women wanted to be identified for fear of retaliation.

The relatives said the 26 year old was shot in the stomach. He had surgery and needs to have another.

The 31 year old victim is recovering from gunshot wounds to the upper body, they said.

The women’s voices started to shake after they began thinking about what could have happened.

“It’s a terrible sight to see all the tubes and everything. Thank God they’re okay. My son is fine, but I hope they find who did this, who’s responsible,” said the 31 year old’s mother.

“My baby brother — I’m just thankful that he made it through, but in a way seeing him there laying in bed — the way he is with all these tubes going through his mouth and his stomach and everything it’s hard. It’s hard to see him like that,” said the 26 year old’s sister.

Police have not released the names of the injured. Authorities said the department’s gang unit continued their investigation all day Friday.
