Freezing Temperatures Greet Black Friday Shoppers in El Paso

‘Cold’ would be an understatement for the conditions outside El Paso’s westside Best Buy store early Friday morning.

Just as ABC-7’s StormTRACK Weather First Alert warned, temperatures were in the 20’s as thousands of Sun City shoppers waited for the shops to open and the ‘Black Friday’ savings to begin.

“It’s freezing,” said Martha Canales.

Canales’s wait outside Best Buy began Thursday evening around six. Atop her wish list: A 32-inch TV and Nintendo Wii system.

“It will be worth it when I’m in bed watching my TV, nice and warm,” she added.

Despite wrapping around the shopping center, the line outside Best Buy was gone about eight minutes after the doors opened at 5 a.m.

The StormTRACK First Alert remains in effect through Saturday morning with overnight temperatures once again expected in the 20’s.
