Fire Evacuates Diners In East El Paso

El Paso fire officials said 10 fire crews responded to a restaurant fire at the Chihua Tacos on Gateway West at 6:13 p.m. Sunday.

According to first units on the scene, they could see smoke coming from the back roof area.

The fire was extinguished in 15 minutes.

No injuries were reported.

Investigators said unattended cooking started the fire which cost about $80,000 worth of damage.

Officials said building services and health department inspectors were dispatched to evaluate the restaurant.
