Dust off your grandma’s china. PBS’s Antiques Roadshow is coming to El Paso.

The popular television production features top appraisers who criss-cross the country offering free evaluations of collectibles and antiques to the public.

PBS’s most-watched primetime series is scheduled for a stop in El Paso on June 18th. “We expect to be heavily involved in the production,” said Dan Krieger, General Manager of KCOS-TV, the PBS affiliate in El Paso.

Krieger couldn’t say what Sun City venue will host the show as details are still being worked out, but said he expects the show will bring with it benefits for his station. “I expect a surge in membership. Antiques Roadshow is one of the more popular shows we carry.”

Even though the El Paso show will be taped over the summer, the episode will air in 2012 as part of its sixtreenth broadcast season.

“We’re inviting almost 40,000 fans to celebrate this milestone at our events this summer. We won’t be serving cake with candles, but we promise a party atmosphere with lots of surprises,” said Roadshow executive producer Marsha Bemki.

“A lot of us have old stuff in the attic and we wonder if it’s good anymore,” said Krieger. The appeal of he show lies in “the welcome surprises these people get.”

The event is free, but tickets must be obtained in advance. For more information, click here.
