Associated Press

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Neighbors of a factory in Louisville, Kentucky, where two workers were killed in an explosion say they complained for years about odors coming from the plant. The explosion happened Tuesday at Givaudan Sense Colour. The factory produces colorings for food and drinks. The blast caused a partial collapse of the building and blew out windows in nearby homes and businesses. Neighbors said they have smelled an ammonia-like odor, a burnt sugar smell and a burnt caramel smell coming from the plant over the years. Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg said 11 other employees were injured.
