Red Flag Warning For Monday Afternoon

The National Weather Service has said red flag warning is in effect from noon to 8 p.m. on Monday.

The entire southern half of New Mexico is included in the warning, as well as far west Texas.

A red flag warning is issued when critical fire weather conditions are either present or expected.

Due to sustained winds between 20 and 30 mph with gusts up to 35 mph, along with humidity levels below 15 percent, there is an increased level of fire danger in the afternoon hours.

During the red flag warning, residents are encouraged to be especially careful in dry conditions as a single spark can lead to a wildfire.
