Crash Shuts Down I-10; Driver In Critical Condition

A man is at University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries following an early morning crash, according to El Paso police.

Investigators said Lorenzo Loera, 23, was speeding on Interstate 10 west near Artcraft Road shortly after 2 a.m. Wednesday when he lost control of his Toyota Tacoma.

The truck hit a barrier and rolled over several times, ejecting Loera, who was not wearing a seat belt, police said.

Investigators said alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash.

Police said Loera is a resident of Canutillo.

I-10 west was closed off for several hours as crews cleared the scene.
