Traffic Stop Leads To Discovery Of 140+ Ecstasy Pills
Early Tuesday morning 05-03-11 at about 2:00 AM, a Sheriff?s Deputy was patrolling the area of the 13000 block of Alarcon, San Elizario, TX. The Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a Green Honda Accord as the driver was observed not wearing his seatbelt. The vehicle had 2 male occupants (driver / front passenger).
Upon making contact with the occupants, the Sheriff?s Deputy noticed both driver & passenger appeared to be nervous / evasive of questions asked of them. The driver then told the Sheriff?s Deputy “give me a break, I have a warrant”. A warrant check on both subjects revealed the passenger had a Directive to Apprehend (Parole Violation) issued from the Texas Youth Commission (TYC) from an offense he committed as a juvenile. Deputies obtained consent to search the vehicle.
A search of the vehicle resulted in the finding of a clear plastic baggie containing several capsules containing a white powdery & numerous pink, green and brown tablets (each with an insignia of an animal). Both Driver & Passenger claimed ownership of the pills which tested positive for ecstasy.
The driver ? identified as JOSUE MARTINEZ-PINA (20) & the Front Passenger ? CHRISTIAN CABALLERO (18) were placed under arrest for MANUFACTURING / DELIVERY OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE (ECSTASY) PG 2 more than 4G under 400G. Both are from Fabens, TX.
The ecstasy weighed approximately 46 grams to include the packaging. In total, 132 ecstasy pills and 12 ecstasy tablets were recovered for a total of 144 ecstasy pills/tablets.
