1. NUMBER-ONE CAMPAIGN FOCUS: Job Creation & Retention : My focus will be on the backbone of our economy, small businesses. We need to find ways to foster their growth and continued positive impact on our community. This involves partnering in a meaningful manner and not only when the need arises.
2. WHAT SETS YOU APART FROM YOUR OPPONENTS? It would be very healthy to have someone like myself with a financial background to serve on the El Paso City Council. I believe I am the candidate who is best prepared to serve the El Paso constituents from day one. The city of El Paso has my full commitment to give it nothing less than my hard work and dedication.
3. RELEVANT EXPERIENCE THAT QUALIFIES YOU FOR THE POSITION YOU SEEK: I’m a a longtime El Paso resident who is involved with several charities and non-profit groups in El Paso. I currently serves on the Women’s Fund of El Paso Board of Directors and was the past Chairwoman for Power of the Purse 2010. In addition, I was instrumental in a successful fundraising effort for Love Park, located in District #8. My civic involvement in El Paso runs deep, and features work on the Board of Directors for the United Way. I am deeply proud of the working relationships I have developed with the La Fe Clinic early in my career. I graduated from the University of Texas-Austin with a degree in Economics. Upon graduation, I moved to El Paso and began a career in financial services. I was one of two female financial advisors that were employed with Morgan Stanley Dean Witter at the time. 5. DESCRIBE A MOMENT THAT CHANGED YOUR LIFE: The birth of both my sons.
6. IN WHAT WAYS IS EL PASO ON THE RIGHT TRACK, AND IN WHAT WAYS DOES IT NEED TO CHANGE COURSE? Concerning big picture items ie: Expansion of Fort Bliss, the development of the Medical Center of the Americas, and the approval of some of the transportation infrastructure projects: El Paso is headed in the right direction. Overall, El Paso has failed in the development of public/ private partnerships. Right, wrong, indifferent: the feedback I am receiving is El Paso City Government is anti business.
7. IF ELECTED, HOW WILL YOU BALANCE THE NEEDS OF FAMILY, YOUR CAREER AND YOUR OFFICE? TEAMWORK & Proper Planning : Our family has always operated as a team, we leave work at work, home at home, and rely upon each other, our leadership skills, time management skills, friends, faith and family to get it all done.
8. WHERE DID YOU GROW UP? Houston, Texas
