Museums and Cultural Affairs Announces 2011 Music Under the Stars Lineup Chamizal National Memorial

Sunday Evenings, June 12, 2011 – August 14, 2011 7:30- 9:30 pm

The City of El Paso’s Museums and Cultural Affairs Department (MCAD) is pleased to announce the 2011 Music Under the Stars lineup.

The concert will be held Sunday evenings starting June 12, 2011 through August 14, 2011 at the Chamizal National Memorial located at 800 South San Marcial Street. Grills are allowed at the park except at the inner part of the park known as the bowl.

Please note alcohol is prohibited at the park, and there is no smoking in the bowl area. Glass containers or pets are NOT allowed at the park.

Due to the amount of applications received, two local bands will perform per night, on selected dates. Over 100 applications to perform at Music Under the Stars were received.

Lineup Includes: June 12th – Frontera Bugalu (Cumbia) and La Sonora Blu (Samba) June 19th – The Police Experience (Tribute to the Police) June 26th – Havana Quintet (Jazz) and Art Lewis featuring Fernando Lechuga (Latin Jazz) July 3rd – El Paso Wind Symphony (Patriotic Fireworks Spectacular) July 10th – Subrosa Union (Pop/Reggae) July 17th – Delta Nove (Funk/Brazilian) July 24th – Rupa & the April Fishes (World) July 31st – Brass Monkey Brass Band (Soul/Funk) August 7th – The Royalty (Pop/Rock) and Desorden No Autorizado “DNA” (Spanish Rock) August 14th – The Dave Matthews Tribute Band (Tribute to the Dave Matthews Band)

Park and Ride Concert goers may park at the El Paso Zoo and take a shuttle to the park for free. Shuttle hours are 6:30 pm to 10:00 pm.

About Music Under the Stars Music Under the Stars began in 1983 as a program of the City of El Paso Arts and Culture Department. The summer music festival has had twenty-seven successful seasons and attracts more than 100,000 people annually. This makes Music Under the Stars the largest free outdoor concert in the Southwest! The outdoor concert series features local and international musicians performing a variety of different rhythms, styles and musical influences.
