2 Men Busted With Marijuana During Traffic Stop

Late Wednesday night 06-01-11 at 10:47 PM, a Sheriff?s Deputy patrolling the area of San Elizario, TX observed a Silver Honda Civic disregard a stop sign at the intersection of Hartley and Campo Bello.

The Deputy conducted a traffic stop on the said vehicle which had 2 male occupants (driver / passenger). As Deputies were talking to both the driver & passenger, they noticed the strong smell of Marijuana emitting from within the vehicle.

While talking to the occupants, Deputies noticed both subjects appear to be nervous & their stories were inconsistent. Consent to search the vehicle was sought & obtained.

A search of the vehicle revealed the discovery of a black bag on the floorboard behind the drivers seat. Inside the bag was a zip-lock bag that contained a green leafy substance (later testing positive for marijuana) & 7 other small clear plastic baggies containing a green leafy substance (also tested positive for marijuana) were found.

The total weight for the marijuana recovered inside the vehicle was 1 pound 8oz.

Both subjects were placed under arrest for POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA less than 5LBS.
