In El Paso
Banking institutions and the U.S. Postal Service will be closed in observance of Independence Day.
In observance of Independence Day, El Paso City Hall will be closed, Monday, July 4. It will reopen at 7 a.m. Tuesday, July 5. City Council will meet at its regularly scheduled time at 9 am. Tuesday.
The Housing Authority of the City of El Paso will be closed Monday, July 4, 2011, in observance of Independence Day.
Sun Metro’s regular (fixed-route) and LIFT services will run on a Sunday on Monday, July 4, in observation of the Fourth of July holiday. The customer service line for fixed route also will work on a Sunday schedule from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The administrative offices, the Eastside Transit Terminal ticket office at 1165 Sunmount and the Bert Williams Downtown Santa Fe Transfer Center ticket office at 601 Santa Fe will be closed. All Sun Metro services and facilities will resume regular hours of operation on Tuesday, July 5. The detour of routes will continued through Monday. Workforce Solutions Upper Rio Grande locations across the region will be closed Monday, July 4th for the Fourth of July holiday. In addition, the eastside location at 1359 Lomaland will be closed Saturday, July 2nd. For more information, click on this link.
The City of El Paso Department of Public Health Offices will be closed on Monday, July 4. The Animal Services kennels and offices will be closed. Animal Services Field Operations and the 2-1-1 Texas Information and Referral Center will remain operational. For more information, click on this link.
The city of El Paso Clint Landfill will be closed on Monday, July in observance of Independence Day, the city’s Environmental Services Department announced today. The landfill, at 2300 Darrington Road, will resume normal operating hours on Tuesday, July 5, 2011. The landfill is normally open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Garbage and recyclables collection routes will not be affected by the holiday since there are no collections on Mondays. The city’s Citizen Collection Stations also are unaffected by the holiday since the sites are regularly closed on Mondays. The stations are open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
The Ysleta Independent School District main offices will be be closed from July 4-7 in observance of the Fourth of July Holiday. The YISD offices will reopen on Monday, July 11.
In Las Cruces
Banking institutions and the U.S. Postal Service will be closed in observance of Independence Day.
The city of Las Cruces offices will be closed in observance of the Fourth of July. All city-run museums, senior programs and recreation centers in Las Cruces will be closed. The Regional Recreation & Aquatic Center and Frenger Pool will be closed. However, the East Mesa Bataan Memorial Pool, Laabs Pool will be open from 12 to 3 p.m., RoadRUNNER Transit and Dial-a-Ride will not operate, Branigan Library will be closed, Solid Waste Offices will be closed, however there will be normal trash collection on Monday, July 4th, The Foothills Landfill will be open for normal hours from 8 -4 p.m., The Animal Service Center of the Mesilla Valley will be open from 12 to 3 p.m., The Las Cruces City Council will meet for its regular meeting on Tuesday, July 5th at 1:00pm inside city hall, 700 N. Main Street . The meeting will be televised live on CLC-TV Comcast Cable channel 20 and online at www.clctv.com.
In New Mexico

The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions’ unemployment insurance call center will be closed Monday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. The department urges claimants to plan accordingly. The unemployment claims system website, www.dws.state.nm.us, will be available from 3 a.m.-8 p.m. daily, and the unemployment insurance toll-free phone option, 1-877-664-6984, will be available 24-hours a day for normal self-service functions. The Gila National Forest will be open for the Fourth of July, but use of fireworks is prohibited as in all national parks. Visitors will not be allowed to build, maintain a campfire or use charcoal, coal, or stove fires. Liquid petroleum and liquid petroleum gas fueled stoves are permitted in developed recreation sites only. No flame of any kind is permitted outside of these areas. Smoking is only allowed within an enclosed vehicle or building. Developed sites for camping or picnicking are open except for the Pueblo Park, Head of the Ditch, and Cottonwood Campgrounds. Gila Wilderness trails previously closed during the Miller Fire are now all open. The Gila’s portions of the Quemado, Reserve, and Glenwood Ranger Districts will be closed due to the Wallow Fire.
