Missing Las Cruces Mother, Baby Found

A missing Las Cruces mother and her infant son have been found, according to Las Cruces Police. Investigators said they had reason to believe the newborn may have been in danger.

Las Cruces Police Investigators told ABC-7 that Renee Marie Garcia, 29, and baby were located around noon Saturday.

Police had been looking for the pair since early Friday morning.

Garcia was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant and her 15-day-old son was turned over to child protective services.

Investigators did not offer details as to where the two were found.

Friday, police said Garcia had been staying at the Sands Motel on South Main Street in Las Cruces.

One of the motel managers told ABC-7 that Garcia arrived Thursday afternoon with her child and a man.

Investigators said the man was later arrested following a party in the motel room.

The manager said police came back to the motel looking for Garcia, but the door to her room was locked from the inside and the door was damaged.

He said all of Garcia’s belongings were there and a back window was open.
