18th Annual Humane Society Telethon Breaks Donations Record
The 18th Annual Humane Society Save-A-Life telethon on Saturday broke every donation record from previous years.
The latest totals put the Humane Society of El Paso above its $120,000 goal with donations totaling $126,940.
The Humane Society of El Paso had 36 animal adoptions during its extended hours on Saturday, almost three times their normal amount. Animal Services also saw increased adoptions with 28 animals going to new homes.
“I’m ecstatic,” said Humane Society Executive Director Betty Hoover. “I want to extend our thanks to our sponsors Mission Chevrolet, Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino, Hoy Fox Automotive Group and Petsbarn and everyone else who donated, including the KVIA crew who made it a success.”

Every year the Humane Society of El Paso takes in nearly 2700 owner surrendered pets. We work very hard to find each one a new loving home.

We receive no financial support from the municipal, county, state or federal governmental agencies, nor are we affiliated with any national organizations. We are able to do our work because of generous donations from individuals like you, local business support, grants and bequests. If it were not for you the HSEP would not exist.
Where does your donation go?
The Humane Society of El Paso provides quality care and a safe, healthy, temporary shelter for nearly 5,000 animals every year. We provide public education regarding responsible pet ownership, low cost humane euthanasia services and we have the only pet crematorium in the city. These are just a few of the many services that the HSEP provides for the community and it is all made possible because of your pledge!
