Man On Forklift Leads Police On Chase

It wasn’t the classic high-speed police chase.

A Fort Worth man remained in custody Tuesday on at least five charges after he climbed aboard a forklift and led police on a chase that reached 16 mph and ended on Interstate 30.

Timothy Raines is accused of stealing the forklift Sunday from a construction site. Among charges the 43-year-old faces is drinking while driving and of throwing beer bottles at traffic. Other charges include aggravated assault and evading police.

When he climbed off the forklift, the 43-year-old he put it in reverse and sent it rolling toward patrol cars. Officers jumped aboard to stop it.

Tarrant County records examined by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram show Raines has at least eight other arrests since 2004.
