Police: Men In High-Speed Chase Broke Into Horizon Home
A high-speed chase ended with a crash and two arrests early Thursday.
El Paso County sheriff’s deputies said two armed men broke into a home on Terrel Street in Horizon before 8 a.m. Thursday. There was a pregnant woman in the house who said the two men ran out of the home and sped off in a car when they saw her. The woman was not injured.
Deputies said that an undercover state trooper spotted the car driving erratically and started to follow. That’s when deputies say a high-speed chase began.
Investigators said the two men were driving the wrong way on Loop 375 — going south in the northbound lanes — and tried to exit the highway by using the onramp near Alameda Avenue before jumping out of the moving car, which crashed into a pole.
Investigators said the two men tried to flee on foot, but did not get very far. Deputies and state troopers immediately arrested both men. One trooper was hurt during a brief struggle.
The identity of the two men or the charges they are facing have not been disclosed.
Authorities said the men, who were driving toward the Ysleta Port of Entry, were likely trying to drive into Juarez. The car had Chihuahua license plates.
