Abraham Indicted One Year After Fatal DWI Hit-And-Run

An El Paso grand jury indicted William “Billy” Abraham on Wednesday afternoon, nearly one year after he allegedly ran over and killed a homeless man in Downtown El Paso.

Abraham was indicted on one count of intoxicated manslaughter and one count of being involved in an accident resulting in death.

Police said Abraham, a prominent area businessman, was drunk when he struck and killed a homeless man near Paisano Drive and El Paso Street in Downtown El Paso. The victim was identified as 47-year-old Jay Grady.

At the time, police officials said that Grady was not in a crosswalk. However, Abraham did not stop to help the victim.

Police said Abraham took off on Paisano, where Border Patrol Agents gave chase, eventually stopping him at the intersection of Paisano and Sunland Park Drive.

Abraham’s father is prominent El Paso attorney Sib Abraham.
