UPDATE: Police ID Man Killed In Accident At Trucking Facility

Police identified the worker killed in the parking lot of Mesilla Valley Transport as 46-year-old Sergio Guillen.

The incident, which is still being investigated by the Special Traffic Investigations unit, occurred at 11:38 p.m. Monday at 9525 Escobar Drive.

Police said Guillen was walking across a parking lot inside the facility when he was hit by a mule truck driven by 42-year old Cesar Contreras. A mule truck or yard tractor, is used to move the tractor-trailers. Guillen was knocked to the ground and the yard tractor rolled over Guillen’s arm and shoulder.

Guillen was taken to Del Sol Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators were on the scene into the early-morning hours Tuesday investigating the death.

“Special traffic investigators were called out to assist merely for their expertise in these types of collisions where motor vehicles are involved,” said the police spokesman Darrel Petry, said the death would not be added to the number of traffic deaths in the city, since it happened on private property.
