NMSU Police Search For Pants-less Trespasser
New Mexico State University Campus Police are looking for a man who allegedly broke into a dorm and jumped into a woman’s bed without any pants.
NMSU Police said the man was last seen at Garcia Hall on Saturday night and was naked from the waist down. Residents at Garcia Hall said they’re upset that an intruder could get into the dorms. One of them said she’s even thinking about moving and another said she was just down the hall when it happened.
“We heard this girl start screaming and she was like ‘get out of my room, get out of my room,'” said Alisha Lee. Lee was walking down the hall when she says she heard screams coming from a dorm room.
“I flip on the light and I see a guy half-naked and I’m like, ‘I think its time for you to leave,’ and he decides to come back. Like, it was bad,” said Lee. The NMSU freshman who ran the guy off said she wasn’t scared, but student Megan Smith is worried another intruder could break in again.
“It makes me a little nervous to know somebody’s able to come in and do that. It makes me a little more scared,” said Smith. “I’m probably going to call my dad and tell him I don’t want to live in the dorms.”
NMSU Campus Police are are trying to figure out if the man was let into the building as a guest or if he’s a student. He could face charges for trespassing and could also face charges indecent exposure. Either way, the Director of Housing on campus, Julie Weber said students should always be alert and get a hold of security if they see anything suspicious.
“If they’re wandering around, my understanding from the report is not fully dressed, that’s suspicious all by itself and that warrants a call to our on-duty staff and police to come and take a look and figure out what’s going on,” said Weber
Campus police said there was a problem with the lock to the girl’s room and the door was open. They urge students keep their doors closed and locked at all times.
